"What, then is the one pure and clear thing?"
This is a very important question.
We come into the world with nothing and we leave it with nothing. Everyone knows that. And yet, we spend
most of our lifetime in confusion, pushed and pulled by changing circumstances, conflicting emotions and
complicated desires. How can we find our true self in the midst of our busy lives?
Most important is practicing meditation every day. Through meditation we learn to let go of our opinion, our
condition and our situation and return to our original, clear, compassionate mind. But how do we keep this
mind moment to moment, through our daily life?
It helps to have a Great Question. What am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? What is the one,
pure and clear thing?
This type of question allows us to carry our meditation practice beyond our cushion. Then, walking, eating,
working and taking care our children, all becomes meditation and the expression of our true self. Having a
Great Question helps us never forget our Bodhisattva vow to become clear and to help this world."
